FIRSTS

I thought it would be interesting, to say the least, to have people from all over the world, from all walks of life, all ages, races, sizes, ethnic groups and backgrounds share their experiences of having sex for the very first time.

This will be a collection of stories that will run the gamut of human experiences and emotions. Some of us may be too embarrassed to tell our stories. Some of us may not even remember them. Some of us may rather just forget them. But I am sure that will be the beauty of this collection.

I'm starting this blog so that people everywhere can share their first experiences with sex. Your stories don't have to be crude, x-rated or excessive, although they can be (within reason... "Erotica" reason, not "Assilicious Volume 5" reason) and they don't have to read like Harlequin Romance Novels either. All I ask is that you be honest and discreet wherever necessary. Include your name, real or fictitious, your age, your position or job title and where you're from. Feel free to say whatever you wish about yourself, but do not take such liberties with others. You may want to refrain from discussing anything which the statute of limitations has not run out on yet. And, of course, you may choose to be anonymous. You do not have to be a "good writer" to contribute. All you have to do is speak from your heart and tell the truth.
I am a very good editor and I will, if you wish, help you edit your submissions.

But most importantly, don't take this too seriously. If you don't think you can get some type of joy, laughter, excitement, peace, freedom, empowerment, hope or relief from telling your story, please don't.

There is much to be learned from this. I will share more of my motivation and research behind this once we get the ball rolling.

Leather Bound Butterfly

I've always admired Oprah, and anybody else, for that matter, who has been able to consistently keep a journal for long periods of time.

I have had quite an interesting journey, and thought I would be nice to go back down memory lane from time to time and note my progress, or lack thereof in several different areas of my life. About a year ago, I decided, for the millionth time, that I would keep a journal again; clearly not an easy task for someone born without the gene for consistency. This past January I went to Barnes and Nobles and a beautiful book caught my eye. It was an ocean blue leather bound journal with butterflies etched into the cover. For whatever reason, ever since I purchased that book I've been able to consistently keep a journal in which I write whenever I am inspired, and I am very pleased with the results.

An Ocean Blue Leather Bound Butterfly is an interesting metaphor for my life.

Leather is a beautiful material. Of course it used to be a cow, and the tanning process is not so nice. But once its complete, it yields a fabric that is beautiful, luxurious, tough, flexible, and stylish. Anything that is leather bound is instantly more valuable, more protected, more beautiful, and more respected.

A butterfly is a beautiful creature. It is a great representative of humanity. We are all always slowly but surely morphing into something more beautiful, even when others can not see this. Even when we ourselves can not see it, because we have not learned to broaden or change our lenses from time to time, we are always changing and moving closer to the Most High. But when we finally do spread our wings and fly, everyone delights.

The ocean has so many different characteristics. It is both deep and shallow, passive and aggressive, light and dark, fiesty and serene, and lovely and scary at the same time. No wonder people say the ocean is a woman. Ultimately, the ocean is connected to all of us. It is the reason why our tears are made of salt water. The ocean can see this connection at all times, even when we can't. We must respect the ocean. We will learn one way or the other.

Those that know me know that there is always something going on in my life or in my head worthy of a best selling novel. I love insight, information, debate, reflection, wisdom, and above all else, humor.

Recently, I shared some of what I wrote in my journals and the reaction inspired me to start this blog...

Please feel free to thoughtfully comment on anything I write here.
